Intelligentsia Coffee Monadnock Coffeebar

Why it’s on the route

Intelligentsia's second Chicago coffeebar occupies a ground-floor corner of the Monadnock Building, an 1891 Loop landmark that is still the tallest load-bearing brick building ever built. The room is modelled on an Italian espresso bar, with marble floors and marble-topped tables. Black Cat and single-origin espresso are joined by hand-poured filter through V60, Chemex and other brewers, served on a wooden tray.
