Why it’s on the route

Milwaukee Caffe is a tiny walk-up espresso bar in Milwaukee Junction, opened in 2020 by Carlo Liburdi and Ashley Davidson, who also run the cocktail bar Kiesling next door. Modelled on the quick, stand-up Italian coffee bar, the under-200-square-foot room has an S-shaped bar in dark green tile and Venetian plaster walls. Espresso and batch brew came from Detroit's Anthology Coffee at opening, with pour-overs from Astro Coffee.
