New Order Coffee was founded by Elizabeth Rose, who opened this Woodward Avenue flagship in Midtown Detroit in 2017 after starting out with a small roasting lab in Ferndale. The café was built around on-demand fluid-bed roasting, letting customers pick a green coffee and have it roasted to order, alongside espresso from a Synesso and pour-over on a Modbar. The 60-seat room also has a heated patio, and the menu has been known for playful cereal-milk lattes and house-made marshmallows.
