Why it’s on the route
Sump Coffee was opened in December 2011 by Scott Carey, a former New York patent attorney, in a building on South Jefferson Avenue, and he began roasting everything himself on a Diedrich in 2012. His style leans light and seasonal, favouring bright, high-grown coffees, and the deliberately spare menu runs to several single-origin espressos and V60 pour-overs at a small bar with front-row seats.
