Why it’s on the route

Saint Frank was opened on Polk Street in Russian Hill in 2013 by Kevin Bohlin, a former Ritual barista who buys much of his coffee directly from producers in Central America and East Africa. The airy, skylit room has a white hex-tiled counter and blond wood, with custom low-profile machines that keep the bar open at eye level; two single-origin espressos are offered side by side alongside rotating pour-overs. Roasting has been done in-house at the company's SoMa roastery since 2016.
