Why it’s on the route
Sputnik was founded in 2017 in Back of the Yards by brothers Vova and Greesha Kagan, with Greesha handling the roasting. Its flagship roastery café, a short walk from the original shop, looks through a 25-foot glass wall onto a 60-kilo roaster and white silos, with a floating glass-mosaic bar and seating for about 60. The approachable menu centres on a medium-roast house blend served in Sputnik's bright red mugs.
