Why it’s on the route

Flying Goat is a Healdsburg roaster co-owned by Phil Anacker, who has spent some two decades buying small single-origin lots from producers and cups new batches many times a day; its coffees have a long record of 90-plus scores at Coffee Review. After losing its old flagship, the Plaza shop reopened in 2022 at 300 Center Street as a compact, 800-square-foot bar pouring single-origin pour-overs and espresso, with a second shop up the street.
